On 4 October 2014 the USAF 67th Special Operations Squadron received the Freedom of Hunstanton to recognise the critical role US Airmen played during the 1953 floods which devastated the area and claimed the lives of more than 60 people. It was a momentous day for Hunstanton and the town warmly welcomed our friends from the USAF 67th. The Norwich Pipe Band, along with a contingent of more than 60 US Airmen marched up to Hunstanton Spinney in the town centre where the Hunstanton Scroll was presented to Lt Col John Peak, 67th SOS commander. It seemed fitting for the Carnival theme to reflect our American friends further and thus it was decided: “The Star Spangled Banner” theme for Carnival 2015.
